The CBD Science
What is the difference between Marijuana, Hemp and Cannabis?
Both Hemp and Marijuana are produced by Cannabis plants. The difference is in how the specific cultivars have been bred, and is really a legal distinction. Broadly, there are two main cannabis cultivar groups of cannabis that are cultivated today: fiber and seed hemp cultivars (which produce little to no usable cannabinoids), “marijuana” / “hemp” cultivars (which are grown for resin production for medical and recreational purposes). A legal distinction is made between Industrial Hemp, with concentrations of THC below 0.3%, and Marijuana, which contains greater than 0.3% THC. Both Marijuana and industrial hemp are high resin content varieties of cannabis containing numerous cannabinoids.
What is, and Why do you use full-spectrum CBD Distillate?
Full-spectrum means that an extract or product contains all the cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant in nature, rather than just CBD (Cannabidiol). Green Element products are always made with full-spectrum CBD distillate because full-spectrum products are associated with the “entourage effect.”
What is the entourage effect?
The “entourage effect” is a phrase coined in 1998 by two Israeli scientists to describe their findings that taking the entire spectrum of natural chemicals found in cannabis is more beneficial than only taking a single molecular compound. Green Element products are made from full-spectrum distillates that include a naturally occuring cannabinoid profile in order to maximize the entourage effect.

How Green Element Does it
Where do you get your CBD from?
Green Element sources 100% of its hemp material from family farms located in Oregons Willamette Valley.
Why does Green Element cost less?
Here at Green Element, we believe in providing a quality product at a fair price for people who need CBD in their lives. We manufacture and source efficiently to keep our costs down; we don't borrow money from corporate investors that demand huge returns at the expense of the customer; and we set our prices based on a reasonable profit margin so our customers can get the CBD they need. All of this allows us to craft high-quality CBD products at a fraction of the cost.
Why doesn't Green Element source from Big Hemp farms? Isn’t it cheaper?
Yes, it is! They plant 1000s of acres, harvest with big fancy machines, and dry in huge ovens. But hemp is a phytoremediator and bioaccumulator, meaning that it will happily grow in soil that is too polluted for many other crops while accumulating the toxins in the soil. The only way we can guarantee the quality of our CBD is to know how and where and by whom it was grown.
Do Green Element products actually contain the labelled amount of CBD?
Yes! Every batch of our product undergoes third party testing for potency and contaminants. You can click on the Certificate of Analysis (COA) link on the product page to see the most recent test results for each product. Additionally, every product is labelled with a batch number and QR code that will link to its complete test results.
What standards of purity does Green Element manufacture to? Who regulates pesticides and other contaminants in the Hemp industry?
There are currently no federally set purity standards for hemp products. Many manufacturers do not test their products for contaminants including pesticides and heavy metals. Because we are located in Oregon, Green Element has elected to manufacture all of our products to the standards set by Oregon State for the Oregon recreational cannabis industry.
How is your Hemp processed into full-spectrum distillate?
Green Element hemp is cold-extracted with ethanol in small batches in order to better control quality. This is essentially the same extraction process that has been used by herbalists for hundreds of years. The ethanol is then recycled, leaving behind a crude plant extract full of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytochemicals. This crude extract is gently distilled under high vacuum a minimum of three times to increase purity. The resulting product is a full-spectrum Distillate, loaded with CBD and many other cannabinoids.
Why are Green Element products lower dosage per piece than some other products?
Because Green Element products contain full-spectrum distillate (not isolate), which requires a smaller dose to benefit from the entourage effect. This effect occurs when cannabinoids are consumed as a group rather than singularly, and makes them much more effective. Additionally, many people find that consuming small micro doses throughout the day is far more effective than one large dose.
