Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda, which is a traditional form of alternative medicine based on Indian principles of natural healing.  People have used ashwagandha for thousands of years to relieve stress, increase energy levels, and improve concentration.

People use extracts or powder from the plant’s root or leaves to treat a variety of conditions.  Ashwagandha is classified as an adaptogen, a substance that helps the body cope with stress.

Based on current research, potential benefits of ashwagandha include:

Tested potency: Greater than 5% withanolides.

What is KSM-66 Ashwagandha?

KSM-66® uses only the roots of the ashwagandha plant with no leaves added. This is because the root is the part of the plant used for its ability to help the body cope with stress, also known as its adaptogenic effects. These effects have been noted over thousands of years of traditional use plus more recently shown in clinical trials.

What makes KSM-66 Ashwagandha different?

KSM-66® is made by a family owned company in India.  They organically cultivate the herb on their farms. The plants are harvested when the active components (known as withanolides) are at their peak, and the roots are then transported to a purpose-built facility for processing.

KSM-66® extract is produced using a ‘green chemistry’ process where the extract is obtained without the use of alcohol or chemicals.  This process is the result of 14 years of research and refinement, and is consistent with the methods described by traditional Ayurvedic healers and texts.

Fun Fact

“Ashwagandha” is Sanskrit for “smell of the horse,” which refers to both the herb’s scent and its potential ability to increase strength.  Ashwagandha is aslo known as "winter cherry" and "indian ginseng".  The ashwagandha plant is a small shrub with yellow flowers that’s native to India and Southeast Asia.
